SM-4

from

JSC R.E. Alexeiev Central Hydrofoil Design Bureau

The SM-4 appears to be a further development of the SM-2P7. It is a two-seater with a remarkable dorsal nose rudder. It was used as a trainer and had two turbojet engines, both internally mounted in the fuselage, one forward for providing PAR thrust (KR7-300) and one aft (RU19-300) for cruise thrust. Its wing has an aspect ratio of about 2.

926The SM-4 (CM Tchitirie) has a front rudder that was probably due to what is usually called weather cockering. Her tail was so big she was always going in the direction of the wind. In one of the sequences here, the cameraman (and the pilot) offer us a thrilling passing.
